Easy Gmail support in Thunderbird 2
I have posted that Mozilla has released a new version of Thunderbird. Now, among many new features it gives very easy access to your Gmail. Google due to security and other reasons have changed the default POP3 and SMTP ports with encryptions supported. The setup of Gmail in E-Mail clients always has been difficult, with the new version of Thunderbird, this is not true anymore!
With this new feature many people can make good out of Gmail with more then 2GB space and POP3 access with Thunderbird.
Here’s the screenshot of that:

is it possible to sync (any) email client with gmail? i.e my sent emails (from the email client) appear exactly the same in gmail? although don’t think it’s possible with pop3 and smtp.
Dear m,
I wondered myself about this, and quickly tested out with Thunderbird. Yes it keeps a copy of your sent items in Gmail even if you sent out using Thunderbird.
However, this is related to Gmail’s handling of E-Mails. Gmail provides POP3 in the manner of IMAP, i.e. all your E-Mails stays in both sides - client and server. Of course unless you delete them. So if you planning to use some E-Mail clients with Gmail go ahead and try!
Wow! Is that the same for windows version as well?
Yep, it sure is!
You can find builds for Mac, Windows, UNIX, Linux!
Nice but still like pop3. I would have liked folders like imap. Maybe show labels as folders.
[...] blogged before that Google’s Gmail uses POP3 for its users to download E-Mails from the servers. [...]
