Easy Gmail support in Thunderbird 2

I have posted that Mozilla has released a new version of Thunderbird. Now, among many new features it gives very easy access to your Gmail. Google due to security and other reasons have changed the default POP3 and SMTP ports with encryptions supported. The setup of Gmail in E-Mail clients always has been difficult, with the new version of Thunderbird, this is not true anymore!

With this new feature many people can make good out of Gmail with more then 2GB space and POP3 access with Thunderbird.

Here’s the screenshot of that:

New Mainframes from Sun and Fujitsu

k3_enterprise-m9000_3.jpgSun in collaboration with Fujitsu has launched a line of SPARC/Solaris machines targeting very high scale computing environments.

The machines are general purpose, run Solaris without modification, but offer features and scale that were historically the stuff only mainframe customers could love (because no other computers offered them).

The new line will be called M-class, M for Mainframe - says Jonathan Schwartz from Sun.

According to Sun’s official announcement from their website key features are:

This monster will cost you from $511,385 (US) and onwards depending on your configuration.

I believe Sun is directly competing with IBM’s P Series and HP’s Integrity Servers.

Which file to edit - .bashrc or .bash_profile?

Most of the new users get confused between these two files. Let me try to explain and put them in places.

A .bashrc file is a startup configuration file used with the Bourne-Again SHell (Bash). Bash is the most common shell on Linux systems The .bashrc file is used for personal aliases of commands, think shortcuts, and user-functions. Also you can set a personal customized welcome screen when you login to your terminal.

According to the bash man page, .bash_profile is executed for login shells, while .bashrc is executed for interactive non-login shells. This means if you login either physically or via SSH .bash_profile is executed.

However, if I launch Gnome Terminal or any other application is launched it will execute or look for content of .bashrc file.
