Change is good

Past few weeks have been very tough for me, I have submitted my resignation letter at my current place without having found a new job, shifted to my sister’s apartment temporarily, had and still have a bad flue, assembled a desktop for myself, had an interview with Innity, job offer and discussions with Phang from Innity.

I still have lots of things to think over, but I strongly believe that the change is always good. A very good real life example which I experienced myself was that I sent my family back home for a holiday. It helped me to think over a lot of things, our relationships, made me more thankful that I have a wonderful wife and a brilliant son and in the meantime I had a daughter. It made me realize a lot of my mistakes which I will try not to repeat again. To be a better father and husband.

Thinking of my children(wow! how’s that?), I believe that each of them came with a blessings that would help their parents in this life. When Arsen, my son, was born I had another chance to come back to Malaysia once again to work, and with my daughter’s, Meleka, birth I am now quiting my current job and joining a new company.

Great interview, even greater chat

Last Friday Phang from Innity called me for an interview. Interview was for Linux Engineer position, later in the interview Phang told me that some other work will also be added as well.

As usual, Friday I tend to sleep very late, blogging, researching and just surfing. Saturday morning is the toughest of all mornings, especially if there’s an interview to attend.

I wake up early(10am) get things ready, ate my breakfast(Roti telur) with my sister in the nearest mamak and headed to LRT. Innity office is located in Kelana Jaya, a little further in Kelana Jaya LRT station. I took a taxi to get there coz I didn’t know the neighbourhood. I arrived at Kelana Square, newly finished business center for a mere RM4. I found the right block and the right office.

I was the first person to get interviewed that day, I guess. We started talking from my resume and have gone to things like “I don’t like winter” and “Microsoft Office vs Google Docs&Spreadsheets” and many many other interesting things.

Phang, was indeed an outstanding person with some technical background and was into business development.  I would like to work with that kind of people. Young and passionate!

What you should know about AmBank NexG Debit Card

Liew blogged about NexG card from AmBank. It’s quite convenient I must say. I bought four cards from local 7-Eleven shop and sent three of them to my wife, sister and a friend back home and one to my sister in the States. I sent the cards but I didn’t register before sending. After two weeks I received my pin numbers for the cards. That’s good news.

The bad news is I don’t know which pin number is for which card. Even worse news is that after three wrong pin entry attempts, the ATM machine will retain the card and I have to go to the AmBank branch to replace it. Especially the cards will be used overseas and it’s quite scary.

So I called customer service, explained my problem, and they promised to look into this matter with credit cards department and call me back.

I am still waiting for that call as I am writing this post. I asked if there was an account number or anything that gives me a hint in the letter as to which pin number applies to which card.

There was none. In the whole letter there’s a serial number for the letter, I guess, and a pin number but no hint for the account number! They told me it was for security measures. I understand their concern. At the same time they didn’t think that a person can register multiple cards at the same time, did they?

Personally, I would expect something like last 4 digits of the card in the letter or similar thing that gives me a clue! After all, their marketing pitch is that you can give the card to anyone to use it.

Oh yeah… did I mention that you have to change the pin number on your first ATM transaction?

Aaaand, the ATM machine must be the AmBank ATM only.
